NOTES OF HFCYCLISTS MEETING
HELD 4 OCTOBER 2011, 7.30pm, AT THE INFO CENTRE, HAMMERSMITH
PRESENT: Roger de Freitas,
John Griffiths, Janusz Carmello, Gerhard Weiss, John Wright, Melanie Miller,
Paul Saunderson, Amanda Carter, Sima John, Alan Rowden, Louanne Tranchell.
APOLOGIES:
Susie Gretz, David Marsh, Ayse Kardes, Loretta Reehill.
INSPIRATIONAL SESSION
Roger's view was that frequent
meetings and minutes were not helpful.
He led an inspirational session using a flip chart to find what people
wanted from the group and how they might be involved in working towards
these aims through specific projects.
Gerhard explained the LCC position
on campaigning, including working with Council Officers, having as much
useful contact with Councillors as possible, and the social side including
rides and encouraging cycling. Gerhard gave the example of veloteers developed
by the Islington group, where each Ward had someone promoting cycling
to their Councillor. See http://www.icag.org.uk/local-resources/veloteers
We will find out what develops.
Hopefully some rides and people coming forward with projects they want
to be involved with. This includes safety for cyclists, especially children
cycling.
For people not present at the
meeting please contact john about how you might be involved more fully
with the group. This might be with promotion, leading rides, web design
/ updating, traffic counts or speed measurements, 20mph on Hammersmith
Bridge, sorting out the mess that is the superhighway, CSH9, due to go
through the gyratory. [There are indications that TfL realise the present
plans are not satisfactory]
RIDE
Annual ride to White Cross in Richmond for lunch. Sunday, December 11,
2011
Time: Leaving at 10.30am [note leaving time, not meeting and hanging around
