1] OUR CAMPAIGNS / PROJECTS-
a] Hammersmith Bridge
Emergency work is going to be carried out in the next week or so on the
surface of the bridge. The Council will use this opportunity to paint
the lines marking a constant-width lane on the bridge and cycling logos.
It seems unfortunate that the
bridge should need repair so soon after it was last fixed. John will write
to Cllrs Nick Botterill and Victoria Brocklebank-Fowler suggesting that
a 20mph limit might well reduce damage to the bridge. John will also mention
the protruding studs on the surface, saying that the repairs should not
have these.
b] Publicity
We will print off some 1/3 A4 leaflets. Natasha to look into the price.
Ken will look into the price of leaflet holders.
c] Greenfest
Natasha has been looking into a funding application from the City Bridges
trust. However at the moment there are not enough people willing to be
involved in planning the event. We may look into a scaled down event which
would require less planning and input on the day, where there are not
commercial stalls or a stage. We could have groups of acoustic players
who could sell their CDs, cycling stuff and environmental stalls, food
stalls perhaps. John and Natasha will work on a budget for this. Normally
we would hold the event in Bike week - 15 -23 June 2013.
2] OTHER THINGS CONCERNING
LBHF.
Cycling Superhighway 9 - LBHF
about to sign design contract with TfL. The design work will then move
forward. See our website [below] for more info.
Boris Bikes should be installed
by the end of 2013. The Labour party are bringing a motion to a Council
meeting that £2M of section 106 money from Westfield should not
be spent on installing the bikes. This money from developers is meant
to be used for improvement projects for the community, including transport,
in the local area.
Olympia way, which runs beside
Olympia and past the Kensington Olympia station is one-way at the moment.
There is the be some changes to Olympia, and as part of the planning considerations,
there will be two way cycling, or a contra flow cycle lane installed.
