COUNCIL ELECTIONS IN MAY
What we shall be doing to bring cycling to the fore. The outline for the following comes from LCC HQ

A CYCLING MANIFESTO FOR LBHF

A five point plan for local politicians to promote cycling, so as to
reduce dependence on the car and improve the health and well-being of
all borough residents by 2010.

1. 20mph as the standard speed limit for all residential streets.
2. Increase by 25% the proportion of children cycling (or walking) to
school by 2010.
3. Increase by 50% the total number of cycle parking spaces by 2010
through planning policies and direct provision.
4. All parking enforcement to prioritise keeping cycle facilities car
free.
5. Commitment to improve conditions for cyclists on Hammersmith Bridge and at Hammersmith Gyratory.

London has seen a 100% increase in cycling in the past five years. Now
let's unlock cycling's full potential!

Andy has been active in developing this, but is a candidate in these elections. John will send this to the representatives of the parties involved in the council elections. He will ask to what extent they can support this manifesto, and for comments where they cannot. The results will be sent to our email group with about 300 members, and presented as a press release to the local media.

WEST LONDON GREEN FESTIVAL and BIKEWEEK

The festival planning is coming along very well. A lot of enthusiasm is now behind it. The financial situation concerning funding appears sorted. The status of £1.5k in our account from last year's festival has been resolved and further funding is expected from LBHF. John has just sent an application to Groundwork_wl for £3k. If you want to be involved in the planning please contact john as below. Next planning meetings 9th March, 20 March. [At the moment about 4 people will come to a meeting from a pool of about 10 who are actively involved]

BANKING DETAILS
Some changes needed after change of officers, signatories. John and Andy filled up parts of the forms. John will take to Roger and Mark for completion.
