NOTES OF HFCYCLISTS MEETING
PRESENT: APOLOGIES:
There are many new Councillors. It has been suggested that we organise a ride / cycle training session for Councillors to introduce them to the benefits of cycling in the Borough. We considered this a good idea. To be led by local cyclists. At the West London Green Festival we shall invite all the Councillors and hope to make contact there. WEST LONDON GREEN FESTIVAL Sunday 18 June, 1 - 5pm, at Parsons Green. see www.greenfest.org.uk On the cycling front: We shall have a "Can you still ride a bike" run by two trainers from CTUK.. They will use 5 bikes provided by Pedal Power London. To encourage cycling we will be giving away 10 bikes in a free draw. The bikes will be Ridgeback Speed 2006's which are commuter hybrids, complete with mudguards and luggage racks. They will come with a good lock and set of lights. There will be one demonstration bike at the festival. The winners details will be passed to Evans Cycles, who will complete the deal. The funding comes from Good Going, via LBHF, with a discount from Evans. We will have people capable of doing Dr Bike, but not emphasising it. James, Frank, Cecile, Brian, John Marks will be available.[At the Camden Green Fair they had about 12 mechanics working, and people were queuing for well over an hour to be seen.] We will concentrate on giving maintenance sessions. We shall have a hospitality area where we hope to be able to talk to cyclists and those who might consider cycling. The planning committee are having regular meetings.
