CHAIRS REPORT.

Last year April 2012 to March 2013 we have had regular meetings. Thanks to everyone who has participated, and particularly the hosts.
We held a few rides, which were very enjoyable, including one to climb Big Ben.
We were involved with many Council consultations.
The Cycle Super Highway 9 passes through Hammersmith. That has been in abeyance, firstly because of a delay following safety review at Bow Roundabout, and now following intervention by Andrew Gilligan and a call for higher standards, and now further perhaps because of budget considerations.
On Hammersmith Bridge new markings are yet to be put down. We are still pressing for a 20mph speed limit on the bridge.
We have pressed for remedial stuff at Westfield to get finished. An off ramp to access the toucan crossing at Holland Park roundabout has now been installed, but cyclists may prefer to use the bus lane that has now been opened up to allow use by cyclists.

John Griffiths

Discussion:
Alex had been to the Hub in Islington the previous night and had asked Andrew Gilligan about the CSH9. Andrew had said that the CSH 9 was going ahead, and included some changes to Ken High Street. On the Cycling Crossrail that too was going ahead and would continue along the line of the A40 to Hillingdon.

TREASURERS REPORT

Ken showed the accounts for last year.
We started thre year, 1 April 2012, with £7495 in the bank,
and ended the year, 31 March 2013, with £7118 in the bank.

At the next meeting Ken will show the details of our expenditure.

The accounts were accepted by the group and Ken thanked for producing them.

John Griffiths: Chair: prop Alan, sec Alex

Ken McCosh: Treasurer; prop John, sec Susie
Natasha Herriott: Secretary; prop John, sec Alex

Roger de Freitas, Janusz Carmello, Susie Gretz, Paul Saunderson, Alan Rowden, Melanie Miller, John Wright, Richard Radmore, David Marsh, Sima John.

REFRESHMENT BREAK FOLLOWED by HFCYCLISTS short meeting.

PAYMENT TO MEMBERS
Melanie said that there was a motion to the Lambeth LCC group AGM that members should be paid for doing things like leading rides, running stalls, contributing at meetings. She questioned if we could do the same.

John said that so far we had only paid for expenses. We had paid ride leaders when we were asked to supply leaders for feeder rides to events like sky rides and money had been provided to us for that purpose.

Alex will look into what happened to the Lambeth motion at their AGM in May.

PROPSED COMMUTER CHALLANGE
Melanie also suggested we have a race similar to one proposed by Lambeth where there would be a race between a cyclist, a bus and a tube. The winner would receive cycling vouchers. Would need to arrange with publicity if we did it.

FIXING FUTURE MEETING DATES
Paul was concerned that previous dates for our AGM varied from May to September and wanted it fixed for September. John explained that the reasons for it varying were often because we were organising the Greenfest or the accounts were not ready.

John said a sensible time for the AGM was as soon after the end of the financial year as was reasonable and when we would be prepared for it, ie around June. There was no reason to set a fixed date.

Paul also wanted the group to only meet every two months, ie in September, November,
January, March, May, and July.

The reasoning being:
a ] We agreed to do the meetings once every 2 months a couple of years ago & then we slipped back into once a month
b ] We do not need a meeting every month as a lot of what we discuss is rehashed
c ] Hopefully more people will be able to make the effort once every 2 months

Alex pointed out that with more activity coming up like the Cycle Superhighway 9 there may be much more to discuss and arrange. John pointed out that we do not need to unnecessarily restrict when we meet. Susie suggested having it every two months and having extra ones as needed. What we can do is arrange at a meeting when we want the next one.

REFRESHMENTS AT MEETINGS
Paul wanted us to spend much less on refreshments at meetings. Currently it tends to be in the range of £30 to £35. He pointed out that it was a waste if only five people turned up and the food would be thrown away [though it probably would not be thrown away]. There was much debate about this but nothing resolved. At the next meeting members are welcome to bring contributions of food or drink, as Melanie did tonight, contributing a bottle of wine.

John said that the group should be really grateful to the hosts who make the commitment to host the meetings and spend the time buying the refreshments and preparing the meal. It makes for a convivial atmosphere.

POTHOLES
Susie, and others, concerned about the potholes on Shepherds Bush Road between Brook Green and the Broadway. Susie had not been able to get ont and register at the lbhf reportit page. Alex will tell Susie in detail how to do it, and hopefully the group.

The link is www.lbhf.gov.uk/reportit/?

John will try and arrange a meeting for John and Susie with the person responsible for fixing potholes at the Council

OUR ANNUAL SUMER PARTY.

Roger de Freitas has kindly offered to host the summer party again at his place. This will be on Wednesday 3 July. Start time probably 7pm or 7.30pm. More later from Roger.
